Ingredients
- 4 apples, peeled and diced Or only one or the other. You can even add some peaches. Be creative! As long as you use the amount of fruit specified in the list of ingredients.
- 3 pears, peeled and diced
- 5 ml (1 tsp) ground cinnamon
- 60 ml (¼ cup) brown sugar
- 250 ml (1 cup) all-purpose flour
- 5 ml (1 tsp) baking powder
- 2.5 ml (½ tsp) baking soda
- 125 ml (½ cup) sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
- 80 ml (1/3 cup) melted butter or non-hydrogenated margarine
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) milk
- 5 ml (1 tsp) vanilla
Preparation
- Place oven rack in the middle position and preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F).
- In a small bowl, stir together the apples, pears, cinnamon and brown sugar. Pour the fruit mixture into an 8-inch square baking and spread evenly.
- In another large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and salt.
- In the small bowl, mix together the melted margarine, milk and vanilla.
- Add the margarine preparation to the dry ingredients and mix. Spread evenly over the fruit mixture.
- Bake for about 45 minutes, or until the dough is cooked through and the top is golden brown.
